Ralph, Bob, et al, The above is probably representative of what a "working philosophy" each of us "old timers" needs to employ. I know Ralph has done a lot for the sport of sea kayaking, and rightly pontificates the importance of good "watermanship" skills and minimizing impact on the environment. And, rather than decry the loss of wilderness in his heavily populated and developed area, he is still able to go for an evening paddle and enjoy the man made skyline of huge skyscrapers. That's optimism. That's adjustment. That's being a good example. He also, from what I've heard, has a lot of patience with newbies. That's patience, doing it year after year. I know I don't have it.
