I disagree about this topic being off topic for paddlewise.  As for off
color, I have not seen any gratuitus crudity so I disagree on that
characterization as well.

The simple fact is that lots of critters excrete waste into the water.  As
with all chemicals the dose makes the poison. While I agree that human feces
do not belong in the water, urine, as has been pointed out by others, is
another matter entirely.  The salts in urine will so diluted that they are
not going to be a significant water quality hazard a short distance
downstream in any waterway that will float a kayak.

Now if I were to write what W. C. Fields was alleged to say about why he did
not drink water, that would be off color.
