I'm new to kayaking and researching what to buy for my first boat. I will be paddling on lakes in Central NC and around the coastal waterways and marshes of the barrier islands of NC and SC to start with...... I used the Carolina Expedition in beginners classes and guided tours recently and found that boat to be easy to handle and comfortable. (I'm female, 5'6", 140 lbs). I think I should buy something a little more "up the line" than the Carolina so I can "grow" into it as my skills improve. I've narrowed my choices down, at the moment, to the Perception Shadow and the Dagger Baja. They both seem to be designed for a person my size and seem to be "touring/light expedition" boats which sounds like my speed !!!! Any thoughts on the relative merits of the two boats? Quality of construction between the two companies? Durability? Handling? Thanks in advance, Susan Biddle mclaury_at_aol.com *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Wed Sep 29 1999 - 04:02:55 PDT
