open your word processing program, go to the Edit menu and click Paste. Then
print it; or keep both programs open, Copy and Paste in turn from as many
messages as you like into the one document, then print it at the end of the
session."

Alternatively, it may help save a tree and avoid storing and dealing with
all that paperwork to use a computer-based approach. Some e-mail programs
such as Eudora Mail allow you to create software folders and click and drag
messages into them with the mouse. Then the messages are stored on your
computer's hard drive. With folders for Paddlewise and sub-folders for
topics you can construct a filing system that's fairly easy to scan through
on screen, click to open a saved message, and see what's been posted
before. I guess that will also make things easier for the FBI or whoever
is loony enough and has excess time on their hands to investigate us!

If your e-mail program doesn't have similar features you can follow
Allan's procedure but paste into a new e-mail message that you address and
send to yourself. Then you receive only the part you want to save or
print. And you can change the subject however works for you. No headers,
footers, long repeats, etc to deal with. This is a little more awkward,
but it also works if you receive Paddlewise in digest form. You can just
highlight and copy the messages or partial messages you want.

There's other free software to deal with digest mail, and if I ever get it
to work and anyone is interested, I'll post more info about that. Maybe
someone else on the list has already mastered that and can tell us?

By the way, Jackie hasn't reminded us recently, but we could all help
reduce unnecessary volume by using the highlight and Cut function when we
are replying to messages. There's often no need to retain the full text of
a previous message in your reply. Also works on the accumulation of
headers and footers.

	Thanks, happy paddling to all,
		John

I must be missing something! I have yet to see anything that would be of
interest to the FBI or any other govt. agent.

What does "if you receive Paddlewise in digest form" mean?" - digest mail?

Thanks for the tips.

Uh-oh! You must be unaware that some Paddlewise participants have other
lives in which they are often just one step ahead of inquiring govt.
agents. I can only refer you to the Paddlewise archives, especially
postings from Prof. Peregrine Inverberon and some of his acquaintances and
associates. Tsk, it's sad to think of any ensuing further disillusionment
this may lead to. :~>

	Yes, it's Paddlewise-digest.

And everyone knows that the digest version only exists so that the G'vment can
easily keep track of what we Paddlewiesenhiemers are talking about! 8-)

|Where do you live? How much damage?

I sent a larger Floyd Trip report late last night. T'ain't seen it this
morning. I hope I sent it to the list! 8-)

I'm in Cary, North Carolina which is in the Durham, Raleigh area in the central
part of the state. We got lucky and Floyd just swiped us as he devestated the
eastern part of the state. There is and will be more major flooding in the
eastern part of the state. US70 and US64 are major east west roads. Both are
flooded down east. I95 is still flooded. I40 is also flooded. Wilmington is
completely cut off. Most of the major flooding is going to happen over the next
couple of days.

Everyone is lucky that Floyd did not hit the coast until it had weakened. I was
very afraid that Floyd was going to hit Florida. That would have been much,
much worse than what is going on here....

ThankfulDan.
