It's Saturday morning and I spoke to chuck earlier. M arrived safely (the last I heard Amtrak was running 4 hours late arriving at Orlando). They were loading up the boats and throwing M's gear in the truck. Unless he gets a better offer for entertainment in Hollywood, he will be spending the night at my house and we'll take a run down to the Keys tomorrow. I'll see if I can get some of my Gum Club pals to go out for a paddle. After John Heath's (Jessie's ??) subject line: How to get gray hair - and my "Happy hour is getting earlier every day" response, all concerned have been absolutely wonderful in putting this thing together. I don't know what I would have done without Chuck Davis, the owner of Waterways Kayak in Hollywood. I called the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation race coordinator at 5 p.m. last night and told them that if he missed the plane last night, the next one didn't get in to Miami until 8 a.m. today. Bottom line: he might miss the race, but he'll make it for the demonstration. Thank you for your phone message John. Your offer to be available for the PBS documentary producers to provide information on the [real] evolution of the kayak is most gracious. I will certainly pass it on to them. I hope to be able to speak with them today and find out exactly what they are planning. I may have gotten incomplete information. I will send out a race report this evening. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************
