<snip> >Someone with a great deal of paddling experience recently told me that they routinely switch back and forth between feathered and unfeathered paddles and that this gives them no trouble. I was excited to hear this because I learned to paddle strictly with unfeathered paddles due to worry about wrist injury (wrist injury would put me out of business). <snip> >Does anyone think I can use both techniques? >Nick Lyle Nick -- I started out feathered for a couple years, switched to unfeathered due to wrist/forearm problems, and then a couple years ago switched to a 60 degree feather (which was love at first paddle). Each time I switched, it did take a while to re-establish new habits -- especially things like bracing or similar moves where you tend to react instinctively. Altho I've also heard of people who can switch hit (between feathered/unfeathered, not that "other" thread that's currently running), I'm personally a little skeptical of being able to maintain your reaction speed without a certain amount of time to reestablish new habit patterns.
