I switch to feathered for surfing or whitewater, and (twice in seven years)
for wind conditions while touring. To quickly acclimate to the feathered
paddle, I do 360-degree pivot turns using combined forward and reverse sweep
strokes. By the time I get dizzy, I'm warmed up and my hands pretty much
have the idea. :^)

Oh no! Treading dangerous waters with these postings involving switch
hitting, gay blades and decorating bottoms. I think there is a somewhat
obvious albeit overlooked solution to the changeover thread, which is
teetering on the edge of feathered/unfeathered.
Do what I do. Compromise. Only feather one side of your paddle. Oh, well,
never mind. (EL)

The ultimate, I guess, would be if you were either Gay or NOT homophobic,
had a YELLOW kayak with black and white stripes, with feathers painted on
the bottom, scotch lite on one side of your paddle blades with some sort of
tropical design on the other side. You would then be able to attract all
sorts of interesting people and creatures.

In a nutshell? YES!! I think you covered pretty much all these crazy bases
we've been playing with.
