i'll pitch in from sports i have vast knowledge of, in comparison to boating,
bicycles and motorcycles... most people do NOT switch the orientation of
the brake handles on their motorcycles, to match their bicycles... in the usa,
generally, the front brake on a bicycle is the left hand, and on a motorcycle,
it's the right hand... you can see the immediate problem, but even amongst the
real serious racers i've known, none has ever grabbed the wrong one, even under
what you'd call "combat" conditions... nor have i, and i rode both extensively.
if you are fluent with both, you'll have no problem... and if you are fluent in
one, and learning the other, you probably won't have much problem either...
YMMV, and all other disclaimers apply.
