Bob, I installed a Rule 500 in a very similar manner as your very descriptive installation. One thing I would like to note that I did differently was at my connections at the toggle switch and at the Tupperware container I used liquid electric tape. The Tupperware container is a 4 liter and has the number 3 stamped on the bottom. Two 6V lantern batteries fitted very snuggly in the container just added a 5/8 inch thick rubber which laid on top of the batteries (between the post) and just under the lid. This eliminated any movement of the batteries within the containers. Just a note bout the adhesion quality of the liquid electric tape; I used this system for about a 2 years with a Mad River Tempest Canoe. The system has not been used ( kinda been laying around in my work shop) for bout 7 years and the liquid tape is still adhered to the surfaces it was applied to. I have used the Attwood self contained unit most recently, keep saying I'm gonna rig de Rule 500 in de kayak but I just ain't got a "round tuit". If I were to use any other type of sealant I think I would experiment with the 3m Marine Adhesive Sealant 5200. Thanks for your very informative post, Arthur *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Fri Oct 15 1999 - 20:25:10 PDT
