Allison, I'm not as height challenged as you are at 5-8, but at 5-2 my wife knows exactly how you feel. We carry a little box in the Minivan, it's made of sturdy one by wood and is a 1 foot cube, with a slot in the top for the hand, work's pretty well when she has to reach up.
