An easy way to strap up a canoe or kayak on a garage pulley system is to use old car tire inner tubes. I've had success with tying the pulley ropes to the innner tubes, and sliding them over the boat bow and stern. The inner tubes can also serve double duty as canoe or kayak flotation, when needed. Why make more work for yourself? Life's too short!
