This is my first year of kayaking but a dozen+ years in a canoe. Started paddling and sailing as a kid. Got into serious paddling as a birdwatcher and person who enjoys being on the water. I got into the kayaking because my SO got this cute recreational boat that looked fun. I wanted a boat that was a bit different from the Bayou so that we'd have some variety of options for paddling. I lucked into the Breeze. The Gulfstream is because I want something faster so I can take longer trips. Have been doing about 20-30 miles of paddling a week this summer. I'd like to do more. Could only manage an average of 3 days a week. Thankful that I live so close to the water. Most immediate paddling goal is to paddle across the Chesapeake Bay and back at a wide point. This winter I want to learn to roll without the paddle float <G>. Long term I have ambitions of long day paddles and some overnights next summer. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Sat Oct 23 1999 - 16:37:44 PDT
