This is a response to Rich Dempsey's post about which GPS to buy. I have used GPS units made by Eagle, Magellan, and Garmin. I was happiest with the software program that Garmin has. The program is very user friendly. I look forward to the future when the U S military stops slightly altering the signals. Be sure to protect the GPS from humidity and water even if it says it is waterproof. I put mine in a drybox that has water absorbing packets inside. I conserve the power of my GPS when on long paddles by only turning it after every hour of paddling. Then by using the GOTO button I can find out exactly how many miles per hour I am paddling. -- Don Dimond Owner of Superior Visions Sea Kayaking School Board Member of Twin Cities Sea Kayaking Association *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Sat Oct 23 1999 - 19:36:37 PDT
