I found a new way to spill a kayak. I was taking my daughter (2 year old) around a salt water estuary, we did fine, checking out the sights, etc. Coming in to land, and I'm telling her to wait while I get out and I'll get her out next. Carefully swung one led out and start putting some weight on it, only to find that with my daughter on my lap, my leg had fallen asleep and wasn't working, but I had already commit my weight to that side of the kayak. Splash, we all go over into the water. This was in a "pungo", a fairly wide, larger cockpit recreational kayak. I didn't think it was possible to flip that thing... So, stay alert to legs falling asleep, especially as you try to get out of the kayak ;-) Glad I'd thought to bring a change of clothes for the daughter and wearing a wetsuit myself, even for such a "tame" little kayak trip, on a clear calm, but slightly cool day. Starting to serious think about trying to find a wetsuit for my daughter plus she is asking for one. She sees mom and dad wear a wetsuit and wants one for herself... Any suggestions for finding toddler sized wetsuits? She's running around 3T toddler sizes at the moment. thanks dave -- Dave Uebele (daveu_at_sptddog.com) Spotted Dog Systems http://sptddog.com/daveu.html *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Tue Oct 26 1999 - 10:48:50 PDT
