The model you're describing sounds like it might be from several years ago rather than last year. I have a Nemo that I bought new in early '97 and it has the gusseted neck. I had to wait for that year's model to come out to get this feature because the prior year's model didn't have it. If memory serves, the older model was made from coated nylon rather than waterproof/ breathable. Mine is bright red and the prior year's model was bright yellow if that helps. IMHO the gusseted closure is valuable primarily for protecting the latex. It's made out of a material Patagonia calls stretch-coat or something similar and it provides a 'water resistant' seal that's probably slightly less effective than neoprene but significantly more comfortable. If the item you're looking at is actually 3 years old or so you may end up replacing the gaskets sooner than you'd expect. Having waterproof/breathable vs coated nylon is a much bigger issue than the neck closure. Hope this helps!...Brian *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************
