The model you're describing sounds like it might be from several years
ago rather than last year.  I have a Nemo that I bought new in early
'97 and it has the gusseted neck.  I had to wait for that year's model
to come out to get this feature because the prior year's model didn't
have it.  If memory serves, the older model was made from coated nylon
rather than waterproof/ breathable.  Mine is bright red and the prior
year's model was bright yellow if that helps.  IMHO the gusseted
closure is valuable primarily for protecting the latex.  It's made out
of a material Patagonia calls stretch-coat or something similar and it
provides a 'water resistant' seal that's probably slightly less
effective than neoprene but significantly more comfortable.  If the
item you're looking at is actually 3 years old or so you may end up
replacing the gaskets sooner than you'd expect.  Having
waterproof/breathable vs coated nylon is a much bigger issue than the
neck closure.  Hope this helps!...Brian
