While I really liked John Winters idea about a controlled debate on rudders vs non rudders, there wasn't much support for the idea. My brother-in-law, an avowed evangelical fundamentalist, had to do something similar to what John had proposed, in this case it was on some religious subjects about an early earth theory, etc. He really woke up after going through the exercise, and it gave him an appreciation of other perspectives. Anyway, if we get rid of spontaneous debate on PW, there might be little left to post! My proposal is that rather than earmark a specific debate, how would it be if we collected threads about what each of us paddles, and got Jackie to put them up on our web site. We could define parameters, such as years of experience, type of paddling, etc, etc, and how the kayak handles certain conditions. Does this sound like a good idea? Well? This would also be a place to point people to who have questions about the topics we feel strongly about. How 'bout it Jackie? Is there a way to send things specifically to be posted to such a scheme? Is there a way to keep people aware of this system so that the information is kept up to date and so new members know the information is there and for them to use it and add to it. It would be like that who we are thread we had last winter. I still have some of that somewhere. We could post a list of question, like a form and people could fill in what they want to.
