Well, it didn't really attack, but it could have.

I was launching from my camp on Diana I. in the Deer Group
(Barkley S.) last month when I saw a wake crossing my little
inlet. It looked very much like cottonmouths I used to see
in the swamps; just a little bump making a wake. Didn't
figure. It swam about 20 meters and then hauled itself out
onto the rocks. Cute little mink about 18" long. But don't
be fooled by that cuteness...

The evening before while I was watching the dying glow, one
came loping along the log I was sitting on, as if  he were
coming for a visit. Saw me and turned tail. Must have had
his mind on something else.

I also saw a mamma back bear and two cubs from about 10
meters away (they ashore, be aboat) on the mainland. After
about 5 minutes she started chuffing and they shambled off.
Supercool.
