I have been reading, with interest, the continuing discussion concerning rudder/no rudder issue. I fall into the no rudder camp, past boats include Mariners and I currently own a VCP boat (and several Verlen Kruger canoes with rudders). I am responding to the references to sailing.........Yes, it is more than possible to sail or kite without a rudder. A little edge lean is all it takes to steer a course. I use both a traction kite and a batwing sail and steer a course with the same ease a windsurfer steers a course, without a rudder. I have attended several canoe/kayak sailing events and found many kayak sailors, who prefer to paddle with no rudder, sailing successfully. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************
