I"m 46 and what I have discovered about age is that I can still do all the things I used to do but it takes me longer to recover. I have also discovered that as i grow older, it is more important for me to warm up before starting a long paddle otherwise the joints begin to ache. My technique is usually to over dress at first so I build up body heat quickly then once warmed up to open up the paddleing jacket , strip or whatever. I also discover my back problems came not from paddling my boat but from loading it on top of my pick-up truck. So I designed a cradle that extends out of the truck bed to save me the lift.
