Thanks to the eagle eyed readers. It is indeed a December trip. The
reference to meeting in March is an error, perhaps wishful thinking.
Imagine all the good food and find exploring one could soak up waiting
for December. But December it is. Corrected version below.

FAMILY TRIP TO BAJA - MID DECEMBER 1999

The lure of warm water and scenery has overcome us again and
we are headed for southern Baja in mid-December (12-23). If you and
your
kids would like some company and a visit to the Galapagos of
Mexico, Isla Espiritu Santo, bring your folding boats (or rent
hardsehells from Mar y Aventuras (800) 355-7140) and join us.
This is not a commercial trip or organized in any way, just an
invitation to those who might be interested in some pleasant
paddling in a pristine environment. Meet in La Paz on the 13th
of December and take a power skiff out to Espiritu Santo (12 miles),
or join us later. Return in a week to be home for the the Xmas
hoolidays. RT flight from LA is about $220 on Aero California. Mary
and Richard Amador (Mar y Aventuras) will provide local
transport, $150 RT for a skiff load (4 people and gear, boats) to
the island. Call them at the number above or 011-52-112-30559.
Local accommodations we like: Hotel Lorrimar, FAX 011 52 112
56387, or PHONE 011 52 112 53822. Cost is $25-30 per night and
right downtown in walking distance of everything. We plan to
base camp in perhaps two places and explore the many coves, bays
and harbors on the sheltered west side. Snorkel, bird-watch,
fish, swim with sea lions, great hiking, archaeological sites,
old pirate caves, unique flora and fauna, stunning rock
formations. Our objective is good food, slow paddling and lots
of pictures and beach fun for adults and kids alike. We have no
commercial interest in the services recommended here but some
positive previous experience.
Let us know if you expect to be joining us and we will be on
the lookout.

Happy paddling.
