Okay, I'm writing this off as a recurrent senior moment or chronic CRS, but I really thought that one of the boating supply chains --- West Marine, Boat/US or Boater's World --- had run a program to take expired flares back in a small value "trade-in" program on new packages of flares. Turns out not to be the case with those three retailers, anyway. Could have sworn there was something on PW or another paddling list about a program like this a few months ago. At least I have a strong enough memory of the thread to risk appearing a total idiot by posting this! Does anybody else have any recollection of a modest "trade-in" program like this to incentivize boaters to update their flare collections? (Anybody know of any Assisted Living Centers that take kayakers?)
