The day before my worst final in a class which determined whether or not i would graduate from college, while everyone else studied and crammed, I paddled. It was a cloudless cool day in early spring with water temperatures in the mid 60's (a very important fact as youll learn later) and i was wrapping up a very enjoyable day of paddling. The only problem was I always pick up at least one piece of trash every time i go out on the water, and as I paddled back into the marina i had yet to find a piece of trash. As the sun was setting on the horizon, I spotted a bobbing piece of debris directly off my bow. As I approached, I studied the item (hard to see due to the slight glare) and quickly realized it was an ice cold beer. Needless to say i was thrilled, I pounded the beer to a beautiful setting sun, threw the can in the recycle bin and headed for home totally content. While it is wrong to drink on the water, you have to admit this was too perfect to pass up. Later I passed the test and graduated. Personal Bio junk: 22 yo male, single. I work as a RN in the surgical intensive care unit (trauma unit) here at the major trauma center. I spend as much time playing around in my kayak as possible but its usually solo, and if you read my account of almost getting run down by a freighter youd understand why im currently seeking out paddlin buddies around here. Just got back from a great trip to Horn Island with Jim Tynan from the list but somehow we both managed to stay solo on the paddle out. Hoping to build another (possibly two) kayaks this winter to ward off cabin fever. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************
