Kevin,

We should stay in touch. I have been equally frustrated about the difficulty
of camping at some and parts of the islands. Even some places where you can
camp is a hassle, because reservations are hard to get at times, plus you
never know when the reservations will be ruined due to delays caused by bad
weather.

I did some Channel Islands paddling, crossings and camping this summer and I
want to do more next summer. Your idea of sleeping in an inflatable is
interesting. I was considering paddling a double by myself, and that way I
could anchor up in a cove and sleep under deck, like Ed G. did when he
crossed from California to Hawaii. I thought I'd call it "Kayak Cabin
Cruising." Just think, no reservations, no fees, and no denial of water
access.

What we should really do is join (infiltrate) the conservancies that control
access at some of the islands and from the inside open up paddle trails.
