My arrangement is simliar to Nick's I used 3 pulleys, a boat winch and a spreader bar. The single line from the winch is joined to 2 lines from the spreader bar (that the kayak hangs from)at a steel ring. Cranking the winch lifts the boat, level. The spreader bar is a 2x4 with eye bolts that attach to the cables. I have 2 4" "trucker" straps that form a V at each end of the spreader. The boat is set in these straps on edge. The V is offset front to back on either side of the 2x4 on each end so the force of the strap on the deck and keel are at different points. Does this make any sense?
