Nick,

I used have had both editions of this book (one of my 2 Dobermans likes to
read and she read my 2nd edition for me)

The main difference between the 2 editions is that the 3rd has more info on
using GPS, radios, and the internet.

Other than that, the prinicpals of navigation really haven't changed since
the invention of the compass and pocket chronometers.

I would get the 3rd edition (because I'm really into the GPS and computers)
unless the wait is extremely long- but then one of my quirks is always
thinking that I need the latest and greatest whatever.

Steve

Subject: [Paddlewise] kayak nav book

amazon has a 1999 3rd edition of burch's fundamentals of kayak navigation
listed.

the distributor of this book in oz only has the 1996 2nd edition

does anyone know if these editions are substantially the same or is the 3rd
edition a substantial change?

the 2nd edtion in oz is $AUS35.

to get the 3rd edition from amazon will cost $AUS40 and time for delivery
thanks
nick
