Sea kayaking, mountain biking, camping, cross country and telemark skiing,
snowshoeing, climbing, photography, autocross racing, quilting, and baking

f) Specialist knowledge

electrical engineering/electrophysics, electromagnetic field theory, 
rf engineering, antenna design, nerdy stuff like that.  I balance this 
stuff out by baking awesome cheesecakes and pies, and trying to create
new recipies.  

g) Strong opinions (I doubt we'll have any of those :~) 

Yes ... but as an introvert, there is no way I would discuss them in the
company of hundreds? thousands? of others.  I'll gladly share opinions
in smaller surroundings, but be warned, I'm a firm believer that people
shouldn't ask questions unless they *really* want to know the answer

h) Most interesting kayak trip

Isle Royale National Park - well, it has been my only trip so far that 
has been longer than a weekend.  I've only been kayaking now for a 
year and a half

i) Short Bio (personal description)

Not much to say here ... I've been the Upper Peninsula of Michigan 
for the last 8 years (ever since high school graduation).  I got 
a BS in electrical engineering at Michigan Technological University, 
and I am currently working on my PhD in the same field at the same
place.  I live pretty close to Lake Superior, so I've done many 
weekend paddling camping trips here.  I'm in no hurry to graduate
and get a real job (as opposed to being a professional student),
but I suppose I should get around to it pretty soon.  More info
