a) Name - Walt Chudleigh
b) Email address - wchudleigh_at_sisna.com
c) Boats owned (boat names also if you like) -
Mad River Explorer- Royalex, Mad River TW Special- 18.5' tandem
kevlar (both 1985 vintage), Mad River ME WW solo playboat, Sawyer
Summersong solo canoe, Sawyer Loon 17' decked canoe - from 1984
Perception Piroutte WW kayak, 2- NRS catarafts- 12 and 16', CD
Caribou-S newest acquistion last spring. My kids own a whole quiver of
additional canoes and WW kayaks. I've finally discovered that a sea
kayak is the ultimate paddling machine!

d) Boat name and serial number if maritime radio operator - n/a
e) Special interests - kayaking WW and sea, canoeing, road and mountain
biking, downhill skiing, x-country skiing, snowshoeing, trail running.
f) Specialist knowledge - commercial and residential real estate
appraisal, statistical analysis
g) Strong opinions (I doubt we'll have any of those :~) 1- Jetskis are
mankinds worst invention, followed closely by snowmobiles. 2- Work hard
and play harder. I've been accused of having many more.
h) Most interesting kayak trip - 75 mile 3 day trip down the Green River
through Labyrinth canyon the 2nd weekend of November. Lows at freezing
for great sleeping, highs in the 60's and 70's, clear blue sky and no
wind. The river was low and had a mirror surface most of the time. I
had run this in canoes twice before- both times in spring- and wasn't
expecting the beautiful fall colors. Golden cottonwoods reflecting in
the water. My best friend and I went alone- 2 solo sea kayaks- my
Caribou and his rented Prion Seayak- and had a terrific trip. 32 miles
the first day in 6 hours with a 1-2 MPH current. The next day the
canyons were deeper and I had the constant image of myself paddling into
an Ansel Adams photo- only it was in vivid colors rather than black and
white. 500 to 1,000 foot red, orange and black cliffs against a vivid
blue sky- it was a visual treat- more intense than any I have
experienced despite many miles paddling rivers and lakes in canyon
country and New England. Only saw one other boat the whole time- a
couple of river guides celebrating their wedding anniversary with 6 days
on the river in a canoe!

i) Short Bio (personal description) age- 52, male, 6'0" - 175, married
to a non-paddler, have lived in the ski resort town of Park City, Utah
for the last 10 years, Connecticut and California before that. Born and
raised in Pennsylvania and Maryland. I am self employed as a real
estate appraiser which takes up most of my time. 2 sons and a daughter
who paddle 1 daughter who doesn't. Enjoy the outdoors and self
propelled sports- as indicated above- also reading and playing the
guitar and piano when I'm stuck inside. I'm looking forward to paddling
in some salt water- besides the Great Salt Lake- in the future.
