Well, it darn sure did to me! In fact, much more than most of the posts
of past times.

I guess it comes easy for me because I don't design boats and have no
preconcieved notions of what a kayaker or kayak is.

I am at maybe a disadvantage tho, seeing as how I paddle folbots(not
really kayaks OR "real" folding kayaks). That does leave me the freedom
to paddle, drift, get pulled by kite, umbrella, rain poncho, spinnaker,
or even put up a sail, and not give much thought to it except for the
enjoyment of the moment(and the constant vigil for safety of course):-)

Maybe it's also that I have no kayaking reputation to back up or exsplain
that allows me to understand and enjoy the freedom of choice of sail/no
sail/paddle/rudder/stock folbot wooden paddles.?

Bottom line from me atleast. I welcome Mark and his knowledge to this
sometimes one sided and weary list. If we can get beyond the name calling
and all agree that we each paddle (or most) something completely
differant than a "real" kayak, and just go on from there.
If I can have a friend that owns a hard shell kayak(altho I never paddle
with him in it), then I think some on the list can "suffer" a little talk
on sailing kayaks(drums up thoughts of adventure of travel, right).

I feel Mark has defined, to me atleast, what a sailing kayak is(one that
can be sailed or paddled, and changed while on the water if necessary).
I know my old super folbot is the same boat with the sail folded and put
away, as it is the days I don't bring it to the lake. If someone wants to
say that it's not a kayak, they would likely say that with or with out
the sail. Their problem, not mine.

Bottom line: use the delete button if you see the word sail in the header
if the subject matter is distasteful. I sure do when I see certain
words..(feathered, roll, wetsuit, etc):-)

James, back from a week and I feel GREAT!
