Thanks for these comments, Mel.  Hadn't met anyone who had paddled a Pursuit.

I've only paddled it about 5 or 6 times and, yes, we are in warm water 
although it's pretty chilly now.  

The first time I used it we were paddling into some pretty strong wind and I 
reach the put-out about 15 minutes ahead of an experienced female paddler who 
was paddling her K-light for the first time and another (not so experienced) 
who was paddling her new Scupper Pro (about 15', plastic SOT) (but she 
doesn't have good paddling skills - won't listen). 

I accomplished this by tacking.  I thought (having taken some basic sailing 
classes years ago) that this would work and it did.  Is this a known paddling 
"fact?"  i.e. Do all you experts tack when you're going into the wind?

For those who don't know, tacking is sailing in a zig-zag pattern.
