I have the Outdoor Research gortex bivy sack and love using with the tarp
I made. I also have a small two person, 3 season, self standing Walrus
(made
in
the USA) which I like for more room.

I think it just depends on what you are doing and if you want to share, or
be more comfortable, or be quicker, or...
