[Paddlewise] Carbon Paddle, Sawing Blade

I love my Weber, carbon fiber San Juan but the blade is too big.  I want to 
use a hacksaw to trim the blade 3cm to the size of a Camiano Weber blade.  
Has anyone tried this?  Should I trim 1.5cm form the top and 1.5cm from the 
bottom?  Or am I wasting 320$.
