I started kayaking in 1970 in Sandomierz, a small town in Poland on the Vistula river, where nobody had seen a folding kayak before. I guess it was book influence (e.g.,"Poland-India by Kayak" by Korabiewicz). Then, there were many kayaking expeditions mostly with my brother Piotr, thousands of kilometers down and up rivers and across lakes, many kilometers of land portages, some favorite rivers: Czarna Hancza, Biebrza, Narew, Brda, Wda, Zbrzyca, Drawa, Drweca, Wel, Dunajec. It was one international trip: down the Dunabe river from Bratislava, Slovakia to Bucharest, Romania. I was also involved in sailing on the Baltic and North Sea.
