A new knife to consider for carry on a PFD is the Bear Claw by CRKT. It's got a short aggressive serrated blunt-tipped blade and a finger hole on the handle for good chaos factor grippage. It's held by friction in a molded sheath that can be attached in a variety of ways and can be had for ~25$ via internet discount knife shops. I've no association with any knife makers or sellers.
