For all dreamers, active paddlers or not, plunge wholeheartedly into
"The Starship and The Canoe". A wonderfully literate book by Kenneth
Brower, whose writing style is much like that of John McPhee. It's a
biography, or perhaps it's a bi-biography, of Geo Dyson and his father
Freeman Dyson. Each wrapped up in a fabulous dream of transport of 1
kind or another. [What a family! Some P'wisers may also know about
Esther Dyson, energetic and creative in a different field.]

Read it and re-read it, and then pass it along. You won't be sorry.

I know it's readily available in p'back from Amazon; I've bought at
least 1/2 dozen copies in the last year.
