It looks like we will have clear or partly cloudy skies tonight, so Paddlewisers in the Twin Cities area and western Wisconsin are invited to join the Inland Sea Kayakers tonight for a Leonid Meteor Shower party at Afton State Park. Meet at 7:30 by the gatehouse. Dress warmly, and bring a reclining lawn chair or Thermarest pad, a Thermos of hot drinks, and snacks for yourself. The shower is most likely to turn into a storm sometime between 7:45 and 8:15, but it should be a good show all night long. The current count (http://leonidslive.com/) is 63 meteors per hour, but by tonight it could be 63 per minute or 63 per second! In contrast, at the same location last August, Linda and I saw only 7 Perseids and 6 other meteors in two hours. We had a few mosquitoes then, which shouldn't be a problem tonight. ;-) Chuck Holst *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************
