I also have a full unfinished basement with absolutely no outside access, so that cuts down my winter building possibilities. It's probably easier to find a nice garage with a fixer-upper house and make the house livable, than to get a beautiful house with a so-so garage and try to make the garage "buildable"! The garage just doesn't carry the same priority after the purchase that the living space gets.
