James, I went for the bivy tent because at $49 from Cabela's it was cheaper in time and materials than starting from scratch. It is made well enough and is green for Mr. Diaz' clandestine type camping. They even had a camo model for a little more money. Lucky for me the Nautiraid has a large lip under the coaming so I could use the draw string hem. This allows me to use this with or without the spray deck and makes a good insect seal. I propped mine up higher than just letting the hoop ends rest on deck to give me head room to sit up and read on a bad weather day or to comfortably perform bodily functions.
