I did not see anything about her vessel on her web site as far as design.
Going back to her article in Boat/U.S. concerning her 1998 voyage. The
vessel was self righting using two water ballast tanks also was self
bailing. She mentioned capsizing only when she was in her cabin ( went
through two hurricanes, numerous capsizes). Assuming (and we all know what
that means) she entered the cabin when ever the conditions was bad enough
for a possible capsize? This latest was her third attempt of a Atlantic
crossing, two failed and one successful. .
Rereading the article I did find the name of the Frenchman that rowed both
the Pacific and Atlantic successfully, Gerard d' Adoville.
Tori consulted with him for her 1998 attempt.
In 1998 as part of a nine member expedition , she became the first American
to ski cross-country to the geographic South Pole, a distance of 750 miles,
so I read. Sure is a lot in one year?
An amazing woman, I think Tori would have much to say. Maybe that bothers
some of those macho men :-)
