[Paddlewise] Kevlar boats gain weight?

Someone in RBP asserted that kevlar boats absorb water and gain weight
over time. After some research, I found a website that aserted that
both kevlar and epoxy resin are hygroscopic and require careful
preparation in laying up. I know sailors put epoxy on their bottoms to
seal them against water absorbtion and blisters. Has the RBP poster
jumped to an erroneous conclusion or will a properly made kevlar boat
actually absorb water and gain weight?
