I can't access the site I check for local water temp. right now, but it usually runs around 50 deg. From what I've heard over the years in this area (Monterey Bay) an unprotected person in the water is usually unconscious (and soon after deceased from drowning) in about 30 minutes. I don't really know how long I was in the water, probably not more than 15 minutes but it felt like forever and I know I was feeling pretty weak, and I'm a lot stronger than the average too.
