the

bow and stern of my yak from getting dinged up. I was considering some

automotive protective stripping (held on with that supposedly removable

3M cement), or perhaps some inner tube or PVC repair patch material.

Even a few layers of Aquaseal. Anyone have a proven solution?

Years ago I re-covered a vinyl-skinned Folbot. To reinforce areas over the
chines and keelson, I sent to the factory for a quart of vinyl-patch -- the
stuff you see advertised to fix seat covers. Being vinyl itself, it stuck to
the vinyl skin and was flexible. Four or five coats made a coating
sufficiently thick to take scuffs without digging in to the colored vinyl
underneath.

I don't know if vinyl will stick to plastic, glass, and kevlar, but you might
want to buy a tube -- I think it's called VIP -- at the hardware store and
find out.
