[Paddlewise] Aleut Invention

Mr. K. Olsen and I were conjecturing off-line about the
logic leap it took to come up with skinboats. We,
independently, posited the 'recreating a dugout with
materials at hand' theory of kayakal evolution, as opposed
to the 'floating on a bloated seal' theory. The fact that
both a really smart, competent kayaker and I came to the
same conclusion pretty much cinches it.

p.s. The original designs, carved from ice, didn't age well.
