Isn't the problem if it keeps taking water? A cup of water over a day won't
matter, but a 70 litre compartment full of water means 70 kg extra in the
boat.

I have been using a combination of wine cask bladders, dry bags with gear,
and a very useful free 20 litre plastic, or mylar, bladder similar to a wine
cask type container, used for Coca Cola syrup in McDonald's Restaurants.
These can be saved for you on request. Great recycling, and they come at the
right price, free. What are you using?

Those are the qualities of sea kayaking that attract me. Surely we are
conquistadores of the useless, fanatical about gear and doing nothing
socially useful.
