Bless you Steve,  I've been sitting here trying to visualize the Karo syrup doing anything but slowly attempting to migrate to my feet, much less bulging on my head.  However, having had an explanation on tidal forces before (and not understanding it then either) I was afraid to display my ignorance - again.
