I JUST BROWSED SOME Of the radio archives I noticed there was discussion of the icom IC-M1 Someone was annoyed that Icom's US website inappropriately claim submersiblity but verbally don't support this. That person's M1 had been water damged I believe. well icom's us website still claims submersibility BUT their australian website explicitly does not claim this for the M1 and warns that the M1 is not waterproof!!!! How about that? I'm thinking of getting a VHF in the next little while. ANy new views out there. To generalise the Apelco 520 seemed popular. Any experieince wiht the Uniden HH VHFs? thought this might be of interest. nick gill Nicholas Gill School of Geography and Oceanography University of NSW Australian Defence Force Academy Canberra ACT 2600 Ph. 02 6268 8317 Mob. 041 7659440 Fax 02 6268 8313 Email: nicholas.gill_at_adfa.edu.au *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************
> I'm thinking of getting a VHF in the next little while. My Raytheon 106 has been dunked numerous times, it works fine, what more can you ask. In looking back over all my kayak accessories, I think the handheld VHF is the smartest purchase I ever made; though I've never had to use it in an emergency.
