Hello Paddle Wisers,

If any one is concerned with the weight gear in their 
PFD pockets just think of buoyancy. Try to replace metal 
flashlights with plastic ones that float. A plastic 
flashlight that floats has adds no extra weight to your 
PFD when it is in the water. It actually gives your PFD 
extra buoyancy.
Other metal items can be placed into plastic containers 
that also float, this can also protect items from 
corrosion. I would not do this with a knife though, I 
believe that it should be attached to the PFD for quick 
use.
