I know. Odd, isn't it? Make it so watertight that it's actually airtight ---
and it may leak for that very reason! A fellow at my dealer told me that the
hatches on the CD Gulfstream can all but be sucked right down into the
hatch! Now there's a BIG leak.

Can't win for losing sometimes... <laughing>

And that's why I wrote "... then maybe (?) you've got a potential water
leak." I included the "(?)" to emphasize the point.

Perhaps "watertight" is a relative term, don't you think? Pounding waves are
probably a bit different than "gentle" air pressure.

I think my Romany meets any reasonable definition of watertight. But, that's
not to say it will never take on any water at all under any conditions
whatsoever... And besides, it's new yet --- give it some time! It'll leak.

Anyone in favor of screw-on hatch covers? Why not?

The First Law of Tents states that if there's any way for water to find its
way in --- it will. Can't imagine that applies just to tents, can you? :-)
In fact, isn't it true that "real" boats accept the inevitability of water
intrusion, and are designed to get water out faster than it can get in? I
don't know. I'm asking. I don't know a thing really about boats and the water.

Sure do like paddling about in my kayak, though.

Regards,

Bruce
