Hal's reply:
I just read in Derek Hutchinsons book "Expedition Kayaking" on page35
under the
category that he calls maneuvers a launch method called a "Side Drop".
I am not
confident that my North American made kevlar boat would survive such a
launch.
Maybe it can only be done in Bristih boat?
Has anyone ever tried such a launch?

I am embarrassed to say that I did drop my QCC 500 (kevlar) three feet
onto the black top one day when I was downloading. It landed with a
thud flat on the keel, no cracks , scratches or physical damage, just
more gray hair on my head.
