Re: [Paddlewise] Leisure suits as paddlewear?

I think you are on to something here. Unfortunately, I was too young to own
a leisure suit but I have been watching re-runs of KOJAK looking for some
fashion tips. From all the responses, it would seem that they are made of
"space age" materials (from the Apollo missions) and have some insulating
properties. They probably have limited ability to soak up smells like
neoprene so there's another advantage. You could walk into a restaurant with
all your paddling stink fashionably contained.
I have a huge concern about wearing shoes with the leisure suit though. They
would definately scuff the finish on a your boat. Worse, they would scuff
your friends during a rescue. A solution is to cut the leather soles off the
shoes (ie. remove the bottoms) and just wear the tops over your booties
(doh...I used the "B" word). Thats a trick I learned in military school
(dont ask...it built charachter). We had flip flops shielded by Bates
Floataways uppers. Do you know if Floataways are available in white?
