The stern compartment of my Romany Explorer is seeping water. I suspect the rubber housing that encloses the skeg string. Before my attemted repair, the stern was "gushing" water: after a few hours of paddling, I would take on several liters of water. I replaced the rubber hose and clamps. Now, I only get some seepage. After a couple of hours of paddling and roll practice, the aft compartment is wet, with a couple of milimeters of standing water. I suspect it is from the same area. The first repair reduced the leakage, but hasn't stopped it. The glassed-tubular housing that is a attached to each deck is slighly oval, not round, where the rubber hose attaches. I suspect the oval tube prevents a good, water-tight, seal. *Any suggestions* as to how to firm up the seal and stop the leak? Aqua lube? Duct-Tape? Seal Cement, then wrapped with duct tape? I've examined the hull at the skeg housing and do not see any signs of a crack. There are a few chips in the gel-coat, but nothing to indicate a crack.
